Why SHIFT

Why work with SHIFT?

1. Experience.

With over two decades of experience in leading and building small to large, multigenerational, and multicultural teams in the advertising, marketing, and tech industries, SHIFT understands your industry, client, and people's needs. Over the past two decades, we have managed big and small projects and teams during the most challenging of times. We are ready to hit the ground running, no matter the obstacle. Deep industry experience makes us positioned to coach leaders to look around the corner, something most coaches will not be able to do quickly.

2. We understand and embrace the uniqueness of people.

A June 2021 report from Deloitte shows that non-minority men make up about 62% of the boards of Fortune 500 companies. As a minority woman who has worked her way up touching every department in the advertising, marketing, and tech industries, Carolina Munguia, SHIFT’s Founder, has experienced high-stress change and transformation while working with multigenerational and multicultural teams. She understands what it takes to bring synergy where different worlds collide across various roles.

3. We get personal.

Most employees prefer 1:1 coaching as opposed to learning in larger groups where they’re fearful of expressing real concerns. SHIFT is firm about being a judgment-free space and understands that people learn at different levels, and speeds and have various strengths. Our mission is to understand those strengths and help build a tailored strategy that works specifically for the employee and for your company. We don't believe in short-lived, costly coaching programs that promise magical leaders. We believe that strong leaders are created by building trusting relationships that result in impactful human beings. Your people are unique individuals, as their roadmap to success should be.

4. Accountability meets empathy. We eliminate unhealthy egos.

Some leaders make great executives, but not great communicators. SHIFT will help executives navigate communication hurdles and coach them on how to have difficult conversations, eliminate unhealthy egos, keeping both the teams and their leaders accountable. Relying on someone to be fully dedicated to team development is invaluable at a time when CEOs need a trusted partner to navigate the shift.

Carolina Munguia

Founder + Principal Consultant

A New Orleans native-born to Honduran parents, Carolina brings nearly two decades of a successful operational track record in the advertising, marketing, government, and software industries with a deep passion for human-centric leadership and designing resilient teams. Her deep industry experience ranges from hospitality, tourism, healthcare, and technology, to government, telecommunications, and CPG. Carolina has led several product and design teams, large and small, multi-generational and multi-cultural, leaning on the principles of servant leadership while cultivating an accountability culture. Prior to starting her own consultancy, Carolina has worn many hats in her career including Graphic Designer, Web Developer, Producer, Project Manager, Director of Project Management, Software SCRUM Master, Account Director, and Chief Operating Officer. She has worked for some of the best advertising and software firms in the state, including Peter Mayer Advertising and Envoc, the Baton Rouge-based software company responsible for developing the nation’s first digital driver’s license, LA Wallet.

A Tulane and a Louise S. McGehee School alumna, Carolina’s keen leadership skills are most sought after for management of complex projects, operations, and team building, specifically in the state government and marketing spaces. After witnessing and experiencing employee retention challenges and the negative impacts of toxic cultures, particularly during and after the pandemic, Carolina decided to start her own consultancy, SHIFT. She spent most of her life and career bootstrapping her way to the next level so she wanted a way to help people navigate through their own struggles. Carolina’s mission is to inspire leaders by allowing their people to feel empowered when they genuinely lead with humanity, compassion, and most importantly accountability.

Carolina is a proud mother of two kids, Andres 27, Sofia 15, and her dog, Mylo. When she isn’t trying to make the workplace and her home a better place, she spends time attending her daughter’s band concerts, running, cooking, planning the next beach getaway, surfing Behance, brainstorming smart solutions for her clients, and listening to a wide range of podcasts and audiobooks. Carolina’s ability to connect genuinely with people through her human-centric leadership style has built meaningful relationships with executives, managers, and team members across various industries.

Let’s work on now, together.
